Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo ep
(1978?)

----------------------

Here is some new information sent to me on the MKofOB releases (thanks Harvey!).

----------------------

There is..... (!!!! ) a very hard to find Oingo Boingo Double Live album out....from the late 70's early 80's...debates rage on if it's "Mystic Knights" or early "Oingo Boingo"...but it was put out on "Penthouse Records". (A division of the same pornographic empire!)... I've only ever seen it sold, once.

Also.....so much for a short note.... Oingo Boingo performed on an album in Japan with a group/artist called "Mayo". (They play all the music.....from around the "Nothing To Fear" period....no other information has ever been available. Such as: Did Danny compose the songs as well?)

Wish there was more to tell....but alas...

Here is some additional information sent to me on MKofOB releases (thanks Selena!).
Everything except the ep sounds like bootlegged concert recordings.

----------------------

Forbidden Zone
You Got Your Baby Back (aka "The Patty Hearst Song")
Ballad Of The Caveman
Don't Go In The Basement

----------------------

The following are from a bootleg that someone taped of the Mystic Knights as
they were doing a concert. There was never an official recording of it
released, but copies have been made, and, as a result of age and transferring
from an open real tape, the quality is bad.

Acapella Ditty
Hipsters on Parade
Always There
Hello Satan
St. James Infirmary
Violent Love
Money Comes From Heaven
I Got a Job
Yes Sir
Comet's Tail
Faster
Minnie the Moocher
Left This Town
Finale
Johnny
You Got Your Baby Back

----------------------

The Madam Wongs West tape has a complicated story to it. Remember when I was
commenting on some songs, I said that they MAY have been played at Madam Wong
West? Well, that's because the Madam Wongs West tape is actually a comp of
several shows they did, but traders called it "The Tape Formerly Known As
Madam Wongs West" The shows were in fact, at Palace, West Take High and Madam Wongs...
The tape goes like this:

Rawhide
Something Isn't Right
Open Eyes
Teenage Monster
Gimme A Break
Lap Of Luxury
Commando Girls
Louise
California Girls
Forbidden Zone
Animals
I'm Afraid
Woke Up Clipped (?)

Danny mentions something about leaving at the end or start of Louise, so I'm
not sure what is what - its best just to call it all one show; Madam Wongs West!
Hope THAT didn't confuse you too much ! I also have a recording of this that
I'll tape if you send me some blank tapes.

Well, adios!
Selena

howdy. I remember seeing the mystic knights on the gong sho when I was a mere eight years old. I have tried hard and fast to find someone online who has a mpeg of the event. someone has to have it. please let me know. I'm willing to trade and I have lotsa stuff.

thanx, cc. btw, in your review of the movie "the forbidden zone", change the name "Chuck Jones" to "Max Fleicher". That's the animator the style is based on. That's a movie I'd like to get my mentally retarded swedish hands on..........

Any prehistoric Boingo fans out there on the net who can
tell me more about these releases/bootlegs? Drop me a line with the info!

In the meantime, enjoy this bunch of screen grabs from the MKotOB appearance on the Gong Show way back when:
