Letters From People Who Care...

(response to the "Monumental Moments" photo at the bottom of the Raptorial Hall of Fame page -ED.)

Hi

What is the name of the Chinese guy who stood in front of the tanks?

And is it true that they shot him later?

Thanks,

Kevin

reply:

I honestly don't know.

I'd be interested in learning more about this individual and his ultimate fate. If you learn anything about this, please pass it along.

Thanks and take care!

Hi. Probably the only good thing to come out of this is that people are now aware of the huge problems we've very quietly had with the voting process for a loooong time. Maybe now those areas with archaic machines or other old-timey procedures will spend the money to upgrade to a more fair way to vote. Most elections, these problems are just dumped in the nearest dumpster. It's usually not close enough for anyone to care about dumping votes because they were rejected by some machine. My bitch is with the electoral college system altogether.

We have a count of popular vote that's accurate enough to show Al won the election by six figures. I think if any system is open to corruption, it's the electoral college. It's a concentrated, central place to corrupt. The Big Lie is easier to sell than the small one. In this day-and-age we should be able to count VOTES. Not electoral votes, just votes. Down with the electoral college! I've always hated the thought of winning the popular vote and losing the election. Sinister. Ugly. Senseless. Dumb. It's a wrong thing.
