The new, state-of-the-art
facility for KEXP 90.3 FM, located near downtown Seattle, features
some of the most advanced broadcasting technology available. These
new tools will allow station volunteers and hosts to better serve
increasing listener needs, while continuing to provide an eclectic
wide and deep mix of music. Highlights of the new studio include:
- AudioVAULT® by Broadcast Electronics,
allowing instant access to the music library, announcements
and sound effects.
- A 16-track studio, featuring a Mackie
digital 8-bus console with 2 DA-88 recorders, for complete live-performance
hosting.
- AirWave® digital consoles in the
main on-air booth and smaller broadcast booths, offering consoles
with multiple source inputs for CDs, AudioVault, microphones,
callers, etc.
- Telos phone system to support multiple
line listener call-ins.
- A musician-friendly lounge to allow
for a broader range of interviews, live performances and group
interaction with artists on the air.
- Fiber-optic transmission to the transmitter
for an overall clearer broadcast.
- Increased signal strength from 400w
to 720w, providing a stronger, crisper signal and better reception
throughout Seattle and the Eastside.
