It's true! Apparently a former SPD officer made like a half a million bucks selling his high-gloss, quality, hand crafted, lovingly shaped billy clubs to his former employers! Sweet! He made them on a lathe in his garage at his Issaquah-based house!! It is nice when a hobby pays off like that! I am going to start making hand-crafted tear-gas canisters in my closet! I mean - the shelves are empty down at the main cop-shop on Cherry and Fourth! And the Seattle Times DID call Mayor Paul Schell insane! Times Editorial Columnist Joni Balter in Sunday's paper wrote:"....Mayor Paul Schell lost his mind....temporarily....." The Times then went on to cause us to question THEIR sanity by endorsing Bill Bradley for President! I mean - we are 11 months from the election and Bill has got that darn bad ticker! I mean he has obviously got the legs but does he have the heart! WE WANT TO KNOW!!!
Yep - things have been pretty quite since the WTO left town.....but my goodness those well-dressed delegates left a lot of rumblings in their wake....the Mayor and the King County Sheriff almost got into fist-a-cuffs while waiting for Secular Saint and Peace Maker Nelson Mandela - of all people - to arrive at the airport. The Sheriff did lots of grandstanding during the protests - he had someone shoot a video of him running after some vandals or looters - but the Sheriff is a portly 50-something while the kids were kids so he didn't chase them too far....on the other hand he didn't pull out his revolver and shoot them either so he showed admirable restraint...it made great footage for the local TV stations to run over and over again and contrasted greatly with a seemingly befuddled and powerless (and of course, temporarily insane) Mayor and lame-duck Seattle Police Chief Norm Stamper....the Sheriff has been openly critical of the Mayor and the Police Chief and has been busy telling everyone and their brother how HE would have handled those dang protesters.... however I believe that many of the cops that got WAY out of hand up on Cap Hill were the Sheriff's.... ( I am basing this on no reliable sources - just sheer finely-honed and keen ambro-instinct) so I think we know how the Sheriff would have handled things....REAL bullets not rubber!
Anyway, apparently the Mayor told the Sheriff he believes he staged that video and while both Mayor Paul Schell and King County Sheriff Dave Reichert were waiting for Peace-maker and Secular Saint Nelson Mandela to arrive at the airport the Mayor tried to pick a fight with the Sheriff! He stood in front of him nose to nose and every time the sheriff tried to walk around him he shifted his position and blocked him! Like a bully trying to pick a fight in the schoolyard! He allegedly told the Sheriff: "I will personally DESTROY you!"
I guess the Mayor forgot who has all the guns. One of the Mayor's Aids had to physically pull him away from the Sheriff.
This is the same mayor that keeps telling the city it is time to "heal"...obviously even he doesn't believe his own bullshit - 'cause he obviously actually believes it is time to "fight" whereas I continue to say it is time to "fire" - the Mayor for one!!!
