Seattle WTO-related documentaries:

"Trade Off" directed by Shaya Mercer. Takes an inside look at the events surrounding the WTOÕs first meeting on American soil. Personal stories straight from the trenches are combined with the musings of experts and politicians and unflinching footage of the violence and conflict on the streets, resulting in a remarkably even-handed and comprehensive overview of the now-infamous event. Debuted at the 2000 Seattle International Film Festival and won SIFF's "Golden Space Needle Award" in the category of Best Documentary. More information available here. Also read Raptorial's review of Trade Off.

For the N30, one year anniversary, "Trade Off" returned to Seattle for a one week run. Here is a review that appeared in the Seattle Union Record (strike paper of the Newspaper Guild).

"This is What Democracy Looks Like" is another feature length documentary about the WTO protests and resulting institutionalized chaos. It is scheduled to be released summer 2000. Co-produced by the Independent Media Center, Seattle.

30 Frames a Second. A new WTO documentary by Russ Thompson. I have not seen this nor located a website for it. I hear it has a very unique take on the Seattle WTO event. Please drop me a line with info if you have it: mattro@raptorial.com.

The Independent Media Center (Seattle) has produced an excellent documentary on events surrounding the WTO Ministerial meeting, "Showdown in Seattle: Five Days That Shook the WTO". This video is highly recommended for all truth-loving Earthlings. If you think the Seattle Police Department behaved admirably, then you really need to see this.

The Battle of Seattle. Videotaped, edited, and produced by Idaho filmmaker Mike Oehler. No one at Raptorial has seen this yet, but Seattle's Rocket Magazine did. Here is their review. (Homestead Video - Rt. 4 Box 618, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805)

Scarecrow Video in Seattle is a distributor of "RIP WTO N30" the first WTO video to hit the streets. The video is also available for rent there.

Seattle WTO-related music:

Alternative Tentacles Records has produced The No WTO Combo performance into a CD release: Live From the Battle in Seattle. The CD insert includes excellent WTO diaries from Jello Biafra and Krist Novoselic. Alternative Tentacles has also posted a video of the No WTO Combo's "Electronic Plantation".

In Fall of 2000, Jello Biafra released a three-disc spoken word disc called Become the Media with his extended thoughts on what happened in the Seattle WTO protests of '99 as well as the protests that went down throughout 2000 in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Los Angeles.

Seattle WTO-related internet videos:

Atom Films has a downloadable documentary short about the WTO demonstrations entitled "Not Without a Fight". (You may need to sign up with Atom Films before linking to the video).

FastBand also has a net video documentary short about the WTO demonstrations in their "Intervision" section. Look for episode 1A entitled "This is What Democracy Looks Like". It is produced by Krist Novoselic (of Nirvana fame) and Roderick Romero (of Sky Cries Mary). Sadly, a very slow modem experience. (You need to sign up with FastBand before linking to the video).
